This community-inspired initiative (formerly called ‘Mural Mapping’) welcomes artists of all backgrounds to contribute their creativity to the LUMA Projection Arts Festival. By providing 2D scale drawings of historic building facades, the project opens the door to inventive reinterpretation of Binghamton’s architecture. Artists, both young and mature, can experiment with collage, paint, pencil, or any medium of choice. The resulting high-resolution scans are then projected on building facades during the festival, creating an immersive gallery that bridges the gap between traditional and digital art. This transformative project breathes new life into familiar structures, embodying the spirit and talent of the Southern Tier community.
LUMA is proud to dedicate the festival's Mural Mapping project to the memory of Peg Johnston in perpetuity. Bold, charismatic, brilliant and passionate, Peg was an activist, an arts organizer, a powerful force for good in our community and a selfless friend to so many of us in LUMA's home of Binghamton, New York.
