4U is a reflection of the way Ukraine has suddenly been thrust into the center of international attention. As an artist living through a critical moment in history–and whose day to day reality is impacted by combat–Julia’s surreal experience sparked this new work.

4U is a meditation on how her country has come to symbolize international unity: people of different nationalities, religions, ethnicities and ages who all refused to meet Ukraine’s grief with indifference–those who responded with open hearts. Humanity is facing a pandemic and global conflict–and now a resulting food shortage. But Julia feels that if we continue to unite as we’ve done in the name of Ukraine, we can overcome.
