2025 The Peg Johnston Living Lights Project

WHAT IS THE PEG JOHNSTON LIVING LIGHTS PROJECT?

The Peg Johnston Living Lights Project at LUMA offers the community the opportunity to see their art incorporated into the 2025 LUMA Projection Arts Festival.  We create an electronic scan of a building that serves as a template.  The artist (you), creates a design based on the template.  If your art is selected we project it upon one of Downtown Binghamton’s historic facades.

LIVING LIGHTS PROJECT: ADULTS

Submission Deadline August 15

LUMA Projection Arts invites artists to participate in the festival this September. Selected artworks will be featured as a projection on the facade of 84 Court St, a historic building in the heart of Downtown Binghamton.  We are accepting artwork submissions created on one of our building templates by August 15th. Our templates are available in both physical and digital formats and will detail important structural features of the building we’ll be projecting upon. We highly encourage artists to consider the architecture of the building when crafting their art. The adult portion of the Living Lights Project will be presented from 9:00pm-12:15am on Friday and Saturday September 5th and 6th.

This year we are formally accepting animated submissions. Digital animations will be limited to 10 seconds and must be exported at a native file size of 4040X3096px. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Submission Deadline August 15

LUMA Projection Arts Festival invites area youth, 12 and under, to participate in the 2025 LUMA festival. Public workshops will be held at The Discovery Center where kids can design their own Living Lights murals.  A selection of these will be featured at the LUMA festival.  Alternatively, guardians may pick up Living Lights templates at the Garland Gallery that children may work on them at home.  Due to the high number of submissions a limited number will be displayed at the festival. The KIDS portion of the PJLLP will be presented from 8:30pm-9:00pm on Friday and Saturday September 5th and 6th.

Kids’ submissions must be returned to The Discovery Center or Garland Gallery by August 15.
