2024 The Peg Johnston Living Lights Project

WHAT IS THE PEG JOHNSTON LIVING LIGHTS PROJECT?

The Peg Johnston Living Lights Project at LUMA offers the community the opportunity to see their art projected during the LUMA Projection Arts Festival. The festival takes place on September 6th and 7th.

While projection mapping generally requires expertise in 3D animation software, The Living Lights Project is a more traditional spin on the same idea, and allows for local artists to engage with the projection mapping concepts behind LUMA. For the project, local artists will receive a 2D scale drawing of a historic building facade which is printed onto canvas or paper. The same template will also made accessible as a digital file. This allows artistic youths and adults throughout the Southern Tier and beyond to submit artwork in the media of their choice; collage, paint, pencil, digital or anything else. Artwork is scanned in extremely high resolution and projected onto a building’s facade throughout the LUMA Projection Arts Festival.

LIVING LIGHTS PROJECT: ADULTS

Deadline Extended to August 23rd

LUMA Projection Arts Festival invites artists to be a part of the 2024 festival this coming September 6th and 7th. Artists are invited to submit artworks for consideration that may be featured as a projection on the facade of the former CVS building at 34 Court St, a historic building in the heart of Downtown Binghamton.

We are accepting artwork submissions created on one of our building templates by August 23rd. Our templates are available in both physical and digital formats (more information below), and will detail important structural features of the building we’ll be projecting upon. We highly encourage artists to consider the architecture of the building when creating their proposals.
